After reading The Moon is Down by John Steinbeck these words just sort of wrote themselves. Chris had been working on an old blues riff at the time and, well, they just sort of merged.
Despite the first draft recording of this, we pretty much nailed the sound from the start.
lyrics
We waited in lines
the cast away our vote
on this sinking ship
with no lifeboat
and the government won
as it always does
cause they needed more men
to carry those guns
and the mothers cried
and gnashed their teeth
but the crows replied...
So raise those flags
whitten that grin
let the New World Order
come marching on in
War brings rain
sharpens the wind
cuts right through flesh
'til nothing remains
Those fool old crows
Whose names live on
perch on blank headstones
of our forgotten sons
